Only a few movers get the thumbs up. We keep hearing about movers who a. cheap b. fast and c. honest, and do our best to weed out the truth from the merely enthusaistic. Truth be told, however, we rely on comments below to provide the final word. Here is what WE know about Rabbit Movers...
Reader says:
Rabbit Movers helped me move a large couch on the weekend, and it went by without a hitch. they're honest (a rarity in the business), no hidden fees, and will move your stuff in a jiffy. one hour minumum. 40 bucks an hour per mover.
Rabbit says (via Craigslist):
Call RABBIT for a worry-free move! Low rates and No Nonsense!
We're experienced, reliable, and fast!
No move too small! None too big! And none too weird!
We've got a BIG TRUCK!
We've got a BIG VAN!
And our little engines say
YES, WE CAN!
Rabbit Movers, 917.470.6221, in my opinion, will be the next Ziggy Vanz success story. Two super-honest, responsible and even more affordable guys named Sean and Steve who have a van or a truck or both. Steve does movie and video set moving so they're super-experienced and know how to handle your stuff with care.

Rabbit Movers helped us make a grueling 2-stop move and they were great! First it was hauling boxes and furniture from my boyfriend's manhattan apartment, then from my astoria apartment, and finally unloading everything into our new place (also in astoria).
The guys were friendly, professional, hardworking, and treated our stuff with great care. Their prices were fair and I feel we got more than our money's worth. It is refreshing to deal with such down-to-earth, no-bullshit people in an industry where you mostly hear horror stories. Rabbit stands out among moving companies.
We had a wonderful experience and recommend them highly. We'll use them on our next move without a doubt.
So y'all heard about that crazy storm this past Sunday April 15th? Nor'easterner? Well Rabbit Movers did an outstanding job moving all my stuff, keeping it dry and it good shape - and through a monsoon no less.
Forget about it! Hands down the easiest, smoothest moving experience I've had. Quick responses to phone and email messages and were even early (!) on the day of my move. (In the big storm, may I remind you?)
Reasonably priced, and super professional, organized and friendly.
Beyond highly recommended. Wouldn't move w/o 'em.
And kudos to them for the professionalism with which they have responded to some of the posts on here.
Today was my 2nd time moving apts with Rabbit and this year was even easier than last year (which was also very smooth). Awesome job by Dave, Kyle and ____ (I am so bad with names) - they were on time and we moved my entire bedroom in exactly 2 hours. Great attitudes, especially at 9AM on a Saturday! Gentlemanly, no BS, nice, normal guys - very important to me as a single girl moving alone. Very concerned with making sure all of my stuff arrived in 1 piece to my new apt. One suggestion - a confirmation call 1-2 days ahead of the move.
Thanks so much guys! Cheers!
Does anyone know if Rabbit Movers is still in business? I've been trying to get in touch with someone for about two weeks for my Aug move and have not gotten any response from my repeated voice mails and emails. I just tried to call again and their mailbox is full.
I really wanted to use them since MUG said they were good for small moves. I only have about a studios worth of stuff and didn't want to deal with a big mover.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I haven't used them personally (also hard to get in touch with-- I feel you sarap) but I have her great things about them elsewhere...
i used these guys for a move when i couldn't get my go to guys at all star moving. they were just OK. overall way less efficient than the all star guys, i.e. much slower at packing and unpacking. but relatively nice and helpful. i would use them again maybe for a small move, but i prefer all star for larger moves.
i used rabbit movers last year, july 2006. my experience with them was pretty positive - the people were nice and careful with most of my belongings (just a few nicks on unwrapped furniture, and some mishandled boxes...nothing big).
on the other hand they were over 2 hours late & the move took longer than it should have - i paid a higher rate for 4 people so the move would be easier on all of us and go faster overall, but in the end it cost a lot more than originally estimated because everyone was tired out from an earlier move and the heat of summer.
this year i called on a service called the good move. they ended up destroying 2 pieces of furniture...they offered no apology and no compensation for the loss. both movers have previously done great jobs for my friends, but so far only rabbit has proven NOT to be furniture killers in my experience and for that alone they do get my vote!
are the people at rabbit movers actually the people in that picture? because if that's the case, they are the cutest damn movers i've ever seen.
I'm not shocked that Rabbit Movers are reading this post and these comments, but that they are actually responding to the gripes and offering some sort of restitution. With hopes that other movers and small businesses follow suit.
For me- these mixed reviews send up a red flag. I realize no business runs without a hitch now and then. But when you hear the words- late, inexperienced, etc. what good is an apology
and bubbles? I am in need of a good mover. I think I'll get a company with a better track record- with less excuses.
they moved me last year in August-yuck, and they were fabulous and very sweaty and cute.
I decided to go with Rabbit Movers a month ago after reading the positive responses here, and there's no way I will ever use anyone else. They were nice, professional and worked their asses off, and finished the entire move (two apartments into one) in roughly three hours. Great guys who treated our stuff well. They were EXACTLY on time, too. Could not recommend more highly.
I just had my second move with Rabbit Movers. Although they are very efficient, they lost one of my Thonet chairs this move. Needless to say, I am furious.
-Liz
Oh, and they were about an hour late, too.
Well, I'm happy to say that Rabbit offered to reimburse me for the cost of a replacement chair. And I have to add that other than misplacing the chair, they were great. Really efficient and friendly. I hope I don't have to move anytime soon, but if I do, I'll call them again.
Just got a quote, so its 110 flat move fee 110 for 3 movers per hour. A small one bedroom with these items was said to take about 4 hours!!!
It’s a small apartment nothing needs to be packed
One full sized bed frame
one full sized headboard
One full sized mattress
one small dresser
one secretary desk
one armoire
one small tv
one media stand (has wheels)
two coffee tables
10 boxes (8 large 2 wardrobe)
We recently used Rabbit guys for our move.
I underestimated the amount of stuff at the apt. But they were SO SWIFT and SO EFFICIENT to pack EVERYTHING so gently. Every movers were so friendly and very professional. I had to deal with several service people for this move and Rabbit guys were the BEST ever! I totally would hire them again if we have to move anything again.
Rabbit Movers are awesome. They were conservative with their quote and came in under - very smart - underpromise, overdeliver. Terence, Mike and Kyle were very professional - they all shook my hand. It wasn't a big move, only moved the following:
queen bed/boxspring/frame
sofabed
tv stand
2 office partition panels
office chair
Not a lot but considering that previously another company charged me more than twice as much and were less than 1/2 as professional. Great things should be said about this guys. They also moved a friend of mine with a lot more stuff. He was happy too.
The only thing is that I felt bad that I didn't have any bottled water to offer these guys.
Ran across this thread while looking for Rabbit's number for another job. First move last summer was great. I recall them being late, but anyone who schedules movers in the afternoon in New York has to have a realistic idea of what delays can pop in the way of a company like Rabbit. They were however professional and took care of my belongings and price was reasonable.
Now if I could just get them to call back today...
Rabbit moved us a couple of weeks ago. They were honest and friendly which we have come to really value after a couple of different moving experiences.
We recommend them and if we have to move again, will not hesitate to call.

(with assist from Maxwell)
I called Rabbit on Friday needing to schedule a move on Tuesday. The guy on the phone was friendly and asked a lot of questions that made me feel comfortable that these guys were competent. They were able to rush through a Certificate of Insurance to my old apartment's management, which is no small feat. Rabbit is reasonably priced, professional and friendly. I'd have full confidence in using them again and I will recommend them to my friends and family.
Everyone knows that moving can be a nightmare. Now imagine having to move twice in less than a month? This is the situation I had, and Rabbit Movers made everything stress free. I moved with the help of my father and a friend on June 1st, only to find out that the building had a bedbug infestation!! Within two weeks, I was able to get out of my lease and find a new apartment. Some friends had told me about Rabbit and how good they were, so I decided to give them a call. They were able to schedule me in for an appointment that week! The movers showed up right on time and were super friendly. Most of the guys are involved in the arts in some way, so we had lots to talk about, being an artist as well. The guys got everything in and out quickly and efficiently. Did I mention how friendly they were? :) Anyways, there are lots of options out there, but I highly doubt you will find anyone as nice, reasonable, and reliable as Rabbit Movers.
Thank you DawllyLlama (see above post) and Rabbit Movers, I moved around the second week of June into my new apartment and discovered that I have bedbugs. My building has never had a case of them, and I am the least likely person to ever get them. Now I have spent time and a fortune trying to get rid of them and this has been the worst moving process ever, and the last thing I want to deal with in my new apartment. I have been trying to figure out where they came from and now I know the reason. If you had a bedbug infestation and used a moving company hopefully you should have really told them, and rabbit should have really inspected their truck and supplies. I wouldn't be suprised if because Rabbit movers didn't clean their furniture coverings or checked their truck i'm not the only one that has them. I wouldn't wish this on anybody else- it has been a terrible process and for that reason I would never recommend rabbit movers. If you use them be sure to cover your furniture with your own supplies- or with any moving company-a mistake I will never make again.
Overall, BAD. We used rabbit movers to do a 2 bedroom move from the UES to EV about a year ago. I regret using rabbit movers.
They were 45 minutes late, at 9:30 in the morning. It was the first move of the day.
One guy was a professional mover (burly and was hustling). The other two guys were unemployed writers. I said, "So how's it being a mover?" Guy: "uhh, actually I'm a writer but I don't have a job right now. This is my frist time moving. This company [rabbit movers] hires a lot of writers and artists." --NOT the sort of people I want moving my stuff!
They parked the truck 1/2 an avenue away to load because they weren't being vigilant about getting a parking spot. I suggested they move the truck closer or block the street and load the truck up really quickly. Instead they left the truck far away and had one of the writers stand around and watch it.
Moving in was to a 6th floor walk-up. I had 2 other friends come and help. I said, "hey can i have some buddies help...if we get this done faster, it'll cost less right?" "Yeah, no prob." My friends and I ended up doing the majority of the moving. The whole move still took more than 4 hours.
At the end I tried to get the rate knocked down because they parked the truck far away, the guys weren't real movers, they were late, and seemed to enjoy taking their sweet time. I said, "look, I took out X dollars in cash plus tip because that's what the person on the phone estimated. Your estimate is higher. Either you can cut me a deal or you're not getting a tip. Guy makes some phone calls. "Sorry, I can't reduce the rate, traffic is out of our control, blah blah blah, [insert bs]" If you want you can use a credit card to pay if that makes it easier and we can waive some sort of fee. I'm not sure what happened, but I ended paying the whole amount and tipping them a normal amount because I didn't want to be a dick to the guy's face.
Moral of the story: There are far better movers in the city, find another company!
In response to Alexh:
Iâm sorry to hear youâve had to deal with a bedbug infestation. I imagine it must be a terrible experience. I canât say much in our defense, but I want to share with you what we know for certain:
1. Dawlly Llama had nothing to do with your bedbug infestation. Dawlly Llama moved after you, not before, and so her good name is restored.
2. For the record, when we moved Dawlly Llama, she had just moved into her place and everything was completely wrapped with plastic and had been sprayed. We also happened to not use one of our regular vehicles for this move.
3. We regularly wrap all beds and sofas with plastic.
4. We have had our vehicles and blankets checked for bedbugs and found no indication of having them now or ever.
Rabbit Movers understands the seriousness of this issue and we do all we can to preempt it. We do ask that any prospective customer with even a hint of a bedbug problem let us know in advance. There has been an infestation in New York City since 2005, and weâve been very aware of it. According to About.com, along with spreading through mattresses and sofas, âbedbugs often spread by hitching rides on people's clothing, jumping from host to host when people brush up against each other in crowds (yet another reason to keep your distance on the subway).â Apartment buildings and condominiums can be affected as a whole due to spreading of bed bugs through it, once one housing unit has been infested. Bugs travel through holes and crevices in the walls and through the medium of common areas in such buildings. In short, no one is more or less likely to get them. We should all be vigilant!
We sincerely hope that this experience is behind you.

In response to Gregh:
This review is a little difficult to address because the move apparently took place about a year ago and weâve no idea who Gregh is. If you see this Greg, please contact us. I regret that we didnât speak a year ago. I make it a point never to let a customer go away unsatisfied â but we failed with you and Iâm sorry.
I donât want to presume the details of the move but I feel compelled to mention a few things that might be relevant.
We may have been late, but there may have been uncontrollable circumstances that made us so late â such as a surprise NYPD truck inspection which happens now and then at random locations in New York and can take some time. I do hope that you received a phone call to keep you posted. If not, we did not do our job.
Rabbit Movers does hire mostly artists. This gives our company an interesting dynamic and a refreshing attitude toward the business of moving. Of course, we donât hire just any artist and those we do hire are well-trained and educated in the art of moving. Our movers must be in good physical condition, they must present and carry themselves well and with integrity, they must be articulate, communicative, good humored, empathetic and honest. This is the character we look for, then comes attentive and strict training. I see no reason why a mover cannot also be an artist.
We never park far away from a door due to carelessness. If there had been a closer parking space, weâd have taken it. We are protective of our customers and aware that they are paying by the hour. We make every effort to find the ideal spot. We recently had a mover nearly run over by a disgruntled driver because our mover was holding the spot while our truck went around the block!
Itâs very likely that the mover âwatchingâ the truck was also packing it. There are some moving companies that do insist on having a mover sit in the vehicle to avoid getting a ticket. Rabbit is not one of them. For one of our movers to sit around and watch, the situation would have to be extreme. But if thatâs what happened, we did not do our job.
A line in the Rabbit Handbook reads very simply, âNever let the customer move at a faster pace than you. If they do, bow to them.â Thatâs to say we take our speed and efficiency seriously and are not to be outdone, but if we are â those movers should be humbled and say something like âWow. You rock. Are you looking for work?â and then offer profuse apologies about how they should have done better. If you didnât get this impression, then we did not do our job.
Moral of the story: I donât believe there are far better movers in New York City, but if there are, I donât believe there are many who would beg you to get in touch with them to sort this out and find a way to right whatever wrongs there may have been.
Ask for me.
