- Inspiration for my palette:
- Our 1920s California bungalow has Mediterranean architectural features like wood beams, rough plaster walls, arched doorways, and wrought iron fixtures. This style definitely set the tone for our color palette, using warm, autumnal colors to reinforce that Mediterranean feel. There's a carved wooden sun sculpture hanging above our fireplace (it came with the house), and it's like our house mascot. I started with yellow ochre walls, and then built up from there.

- Tips for using color successfully
- Your personal spaces should reflect your personality: follow your gut by selecting colors you love. After a while, you'll find that you naturally gravitate towards a particular family of colors, and the elements will start to come together. Another tip: contrary to most people's fear about dark colors making a room smaller, I often find that a deeper, richer color can really make a room feel more finished and cohesive.
