What I Love About My Small Home:
It's coziness and use of space and storage. It's also on a beautiful tree-lined street in the West Village and has a roof deck that makes summer afternoons much more enjoyable (and spacious!).
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
-Turn collections into decor- from vases, books, records, jewelry, match books they are all on display in my apartment and tell a personal story.
-Rethink rooms and flow- ie a sliding 5 foot door for the bedroom makes the space feel larger than it actually is, and incorporates beautiful reclaimed barn wood.
-When renovating we built custom cabinets, window seats and closets which really helped make everything fit into the space and maximize the available square footage. Cabinets and closets go all the way to the ceiling which is great for off season storage.
