As mentioned earlier, today is the official launch of Apple's much talked about iPhone 4. For those of you who plan to upgrade your old school iPhone with this new version, check out this great offer RadioShack is offering.
The gadget retailer announced via Twitter that it would be paying customers up to $200 in store credit for their iPhone 3GS, up to $100 for their iPhone 3G, and between $62 to 98 for iPhone 2G models. Obviously how much you get depends on the condition of your phone, but since RadioShack is also selling the new iPhone 4, it's a pretty good deal if you're planning to upgrade.
It's all part of their Trade and Save program, which lets customers trade in old tech for new tech. The service includes phones, cameras, GPS, laptops, video game consoles, HDTVs, monitors, dSLR lenses, and more. RadioShack than resells your old gadgets as refurbished gizmos so what you consider obsolete can have a second life with a new owner. If what you bring in has no resale value, RadioShack will recycle it for you for free.
Now if only RadioShack could offer an AT&T alternative that works with the iPhone...

sounds like a sweet deal for those who don't use eBay. I sold my broken iPhone 3G on eBay in April and got $150 (in 5 minutes!).
I definitely plan on selling my iPhone 3GS and I'm pretty sure I'll get more than $200.
@kristen: you gotta let us know how much you're able to sell it for. I'm curious to see what people are willing to pay not to sell their soul for two years to AT&T.
The trade-in program seems like a good alternative for people who don't want to deal with eBay auctions and the queries from auctioneers. Plus they'll take in other, non-Apple, gear as well.
Oddly, the iPhone 3GS on radioshack's website was worth more than $200 before the marketing push started. The 32GB model was closer to $300 before the launch date of iPhone 4 was announced.
I went to a RadioShack here in SoCal to pre-order the iPhone 4 back in June 15. However, all of their allotment of pre-orders were filled when the stores in Eeast Coast opened up. Huh? So I just pre-ordered online from Apple and sold my 3GS on eBay for $275 (and that was a Buy It Now price!) within minutes of listing!!! I got my iPhone 4 on June 23. No lines, no hassles.
Not much of a trade- in deal really.
If anyone wants to take advantage of this deal, feel free to sell it to me and I'll pay more. $200 is a rip off! I sold my 3GS last week for $400 when my iphone 4 came in.
