Though the origin of the recycled railroad ties was discussed extensively on our Los Angeles site (with a direct response from someone at VivaTerra in the comments), we had to share the Railroad Tie Bookshelves and
Railroad Tie Console Table after reading a tip from reader anne...

The rustic/modern look of these is really growing on us. The bookshelf is $869 and the console is $589 from VivaTerra. And San Francisco has post about the Railroad Tie Dining Table and Chairs.

I've been looking for a piece for my entryway that is in the spirit of the building itself. The picture above is taken from my balcony.
Thank you AT!
Thank you Eastah Bunny, Bok! BOk!
these are beautiful -- but could they be, or are they available, in long, low shelves...as about 1.5 foot tall, 7 feet long? if not, thoughts on where to get such a thing??
Vivaterra sells alot of stuff from Roost and they double or tripple the price.
Does anyone know where you can get a console that is no more than 12 inches by 40 inches?I have a very small apartment with limited space for such a piece. Help!
