We've got jello on the brain lately. Anything that jazzes up an old standby gets our attention and this recipe for rainbow jello definitely qualifies.
Just how do you make this pretty confection? Remember your primary colors. Do Better blog tells us you'll need a box each of red, yellow and blue jellos plus a box of knox gelatin. To create the layers of color, mix each color jello individually with an envelope of gelatin. Start with the blue. Pour into a pan and let set in the refrigerator. Repeat this process with the two remaining colors, first yellow and then red. You read correctly - you never mix the colors; there is no green layer. But the blue jello and the yellow jello together looks like there is a green layer. Cool huh? Check out the detailed recipe over at Do Better blog.

Is my version...
wow that's beautiful!
yuck, eating something essentially made of cow feet, no thank you.
@daffodiljill.... gelatin for home use is rarely made from cows feet. It's from skin/bones/organs. Just use Agar if you have such a big problem!
I love making jelly! We make it with fresh fruit juice, and the kids love it.
We make it by splitting each color into two batches. First batch goes in as-is, and second batch has a couple scoops of sour cream in it. It looks more like this: http://media.photobucket.com/image/rainbow%20jello/cherylsmith75/IMG_1283.jpg
My mom and I have been making this for years. But we do the version with the sour cream layer in between each clear gelatin layer. Always a huge hit at pinics and potlucks and kids love eating it.
@tequila red- Very cool!
