We went gaga over this painted stripe floor and thought it would be great for a nursery or playroom. Wouldn't you know that Better Homes and Gardens had the same idea 36 years ago?
Check out this cool retro nursery they featured back in 1975. The painted rainbow striped floor along with the rainbow artwork is to die for. We can't help but notice the low storage on the left perfect for toys or clothes and the floating shelf running across the entire wall. And don't overlook the fantastic clothing rod on that wall as well - a perfectly simple substitute for a closet.
Thanks, Stephany!

Design in the '70s embraced the future and was really fun and hip. The '80s however, were unfortunate in many design ways, not the least of which was a turn towards perceived traditionalism (hunter green and red or peach and mint, yuck).
All this to say thanks for digging up a great '70s picture!
I love this. That child was so lucky, everything in reach and filled with color!
I would love to see more kids' (bedrooms/playrooms/study spaces) posts with 70's or retro design magazine ideas.
Very nice picture.
oh my.... ♥
I love that the low storage drawers look like they're from Ikea.
This looks so current! Awesome.
The rainbow "artwork" looks like it might actually be a roller shade, which in my opinion, makes it even more cool!
love, love, love it!!!
