We are in the process of compiling a list of activities that encourage children writing -- in fun ways. A recent post on buying an old typewriter made it to our list. Now we are adding little book reviewer to our list too. Anorak Magazine is calling for 5 to 12 year olds obsessed with reading to become little editors for them. What's in it for the kids? Free books. Oh. And a fun opportunity to practice writing. In a nutshell, if your child is selected, Anorak will send you a book, which your child will in turn read and review, to be printed in an upcoming issue. And repeat.
To start, all it takes is an email. We are sending in ours as soon as this post is finished. What if in the off chance they don't call? We think we'll write some reviews anyway and perhaps publish them in an upcoming family newsletter. For some guidance on how to help children write reviews check out this advice at The Book Chook.
