Think about the way you want your bedroom to feel from the angle of your bed. Since this is where most of your time here is spent, it makes sense to consider this perspective. A canopy bed, for example, creates a dynamic enclosure, that's completely three dimensional. Looking up at fabric panels, forming a soft ceiling over your sleeping space, embraces an entirely new aesthetic with a calming vibe.
Think back to romantic moments from the past and use these memories to influence a bedroom transformation. Replicate a night sky, either literally or abstractly with glowing globe lights or the vivid colors of a sultry sunset. Soften up your space with vertical elements that are less structural. You don't need to spend a ton of money for this look - make your own canopy, patchwork a medley of fabric samples to create privacy curtains at the entry, or hang a vibrant scarf as wall art.

I love the hanging globe lights in the third picture! Were they DIY?
A friend of mine in college had, I thought, the coolest idea. Aside from the walls being completely covered in interesting stuff, she had created this installation of pennies hung by string over her bed. She probably used a couple hundred pennies, and it was so sparkly and fun (and removeable!). I tried to replicate this in my spare bedroom, and it was a mess of tangled string and falling copper. I still wish it could've turned out better.
I love the romance that a 4 poster bed with fabric panels brings to a bedroom. This one in particular stole my heart.
Cord management! Major tripping hazard in the first picture! (unless that's how the person plans on getting their romantic partner into the bed with them).
Oh, so cozy.
What about the 3rd pic (teal with letters, stars, alligator on the wall) is romantic? Not criticizing, I honestly don't understand. Is the bed supposed to be the purple pad on the right? Is that a quilt or a rug in the middle? Please explain. Thanks.
I love the first and last pictures so much. Great article.
