With an airy floor plan, rustic architecture mixed with sleek furniture, and pops of citrus hues throughout, the set of the California ranch from Disney’s original The Parent Trap
is chock full of inspirational eye candy. When I let my friend know I was taking a little trip to a ranch in Northern California this past weekend, she smartly suggested I watch the original The Parent Trap
while I was there — reminding me of that gorgeous Carmel home that belonged to Susan and Sharon’s father, Mitch. Of course Haley Mills, Maureen O’Hara and Brian Keith are beyond wonderful and entertaining, but I couldn’t help but hitting pause every few minutes to admire the sprawling set.
I love how the set designer chose to add California-inspired citrus pops when designing the “home” — check out those great orange pots in the kitchen, or the bright pillow against that incredible headboard and grey-blue paint in the bedroom.
Luckily, Julia over at Hooked on Houses shares the enthusiasm for this Disney classic and she takes an in-depth look at the sets of the original and the remake.
