Random Acts of Flowers

Random Acts of Flowers

Last week I received the most out-of-the-blue flowers I've ever received, from a most unexpected source. Once I confirmed who they were from, the giver deemed them "random acts of flowers". Do you have fond memories of being given flowers that brought beauty to your home that were completely unexpected? (I'll reveal my "source" after the jump)...

The card with my flowers read "I hope this arrangement makes you smile and enjoys your home", signed by...my cousin! I see my (incredibly thoughtful) cousin Rick maybe once or twice a year, if that, and our correspondence consists mainly of periodic email check-ins. It turns out that the flowers arrived on a particularly tough day and they've added a lot of beauty and delight to my home in the past week. Rick knows how much I love my apartment and he's been one of my biggest Apartment Therapy followers and fans! By sending flowers he knew that they'd play a much more important decorative role than just thoughtful flowers. In keeping with my serial rearranging proclivity, I actually relocate the flowers to the room where I'll be spending the most amount of time (e.g. If I'm going to be working in my office for a few hours, I move them there. If I'm going to be in the kitchen for a while, I bring them with me.)

I'd love to hear your stories about the most surprising flowers you've ever received and how they related to your space.
