Ok, it's not rocket science and you can find a million carpet cleaners in the yellow pages but to find one that's not shady aka promising to clean your whole house for $19.99 only to end up paying $399.00 is always our biggest fear.
Our landlord forced us into using his "people" but were delighted to find Freddie and his assistant from Tug Carpet Care on time, helpful, quick and got everything out...including the tar from a recent roof resurfacing at the building. We thought we were S.O.L on that one.
we didn't see the whole process but did see this powdery material that they call their "sponges" applied all over looking almost like saw dust sprinkled around. The dry extraction method allows them to clean and you can have your stuff back in within an hour of service. They worked on area rugs in our place but we're sure it's just as effective on wall to wall if you have it.
Freddie and Tug Carpet Care & Flooring is located in Signal Hill [near Long Beach] but we're fairly sure they travel. Rates were extremely good because we called a couple of places to price compare.

I'll start buy saying I've grown up in the cleaning business and have been cleaning carpets for 22 years (should have went to college). The saw dust method is known as "Host". It works... but... it also leaves some saw dust behind. If you pry the fibers apart you'll see it. That just doesn't feel clean to me. I could go on for a while... If you are going to pick a carpet cleaner try to find a family owned and also see how long they have been in business. Usually truck mounted "Steam cleaning" is the way to go if they can reach you. Portables tend to throw the water down and use a lot of chemical. I've seen a lot over the years. Email me if you have any questions. andyfriedl@gmail.com
