Il Bareto Description: My parents rented the bottom floor of a house in Tuscany to celebrate my brother's coming back from Iraq in one piece - it's owned by a lady who runs a cooking school of sorts in Siena, so one can take Italian cooking lessons while you're there too...
The house was in the middle of nowhere 20 minutes or so from Siena (via crazy winding roads) but it was right across the valley from the Castello di Celsa, which used to belong to a pope and now serves as a vacation home for the rich and famous.
We spent a lot of lazy days at the pool wishing we had binoculars so we could see who was there - for some reason I was sure it was Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, but I think that's because I'd seen Ocean's 12 on the plane there.
