As always, we had to stop at Skyline Chili in Clifton (a beautiful old gas-lit neighborhood that is home to my family) for Chili Five Ways, but a standout this trip was Daybreak at Hyde Park, a warm, cozy breakfast, brunch and lunch place with gorgeous, tasty food and fantastic staff.
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Description: My last vacation was a week spent in Cincinnati, Ohio just this past May. My mother was born there, and we still have quite a bit of family there. It is one of my favorite cities in America, and part of my heart will always reside there (whenever I visit, I feel as though I've come home). It really is the heartland, and a true American boomtown full of absolutely gorgeous nineteenth-century German architecture that always captures my rapt attention. Cincinnati is also home to some of the nicest people you'll meet anywhere, and the food is incredible at just about any restaurant....
We did a lot of shopping downtown, got ice cream at Graeter's, and were covered in butterflies at the International Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park. I can't wait to go back next summer.
