Description: We just returned from Western Massachusetts, where we spent some time with friends on an organic farm outside of Northampton and attended a wedding on a hill near Greenfield. The area is filled with co-op farms, beautiful views, and lots of good places to eat...

One of our favorite parts of the trip involved flower-picking at our friends' co-op. Everything was blooming, good food was in season, and the weather was lovely.

There are plenty of B&Bs and old hotels to stay in around Northampton. Daytrips around the area include MASSMoCA in North Adams (which we didn't get to see this time around) and the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield (my husband made sure we stopped by this one).

We flew into the Hartford airport, which is closer than Boston, and on the way back we stopped by the Mark Twain House - a real treat. The Victorian Home was decorated by Louis Comfort Tiffany's firm, and the walls are covered in hand-painted patterns.

I grew up in Northampton. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and would suggest visiting the campus of Smith College which has lovely grounds, a great greenhouse, a reasonable art museum with good exhibits, and enough political correctness to last you a lifetime.
Other good things there include the Normand Bakery, Herrells Ice Cream, watching a movie or a show at the Academy of Music, taking a bike ride in Hatfield, a walk in Old Deerfield, and a hike up to the Summit House on Mount Holyoke. The bike path from Northampton to Amherst is also nice and there is a hot dog/ice cream stand halfway there if you're not a serious cyclist.
