Description: Located just over the Golden Gate Bridge in Mount Tamalpais State Park, the Steep Ravine Cabins offer an escape from big city living. The cabins are perched above the ocean on a bluff. You cannot beat the view! For $75 a night, you can fall asleep to crashing waves, hike the many nearby trails, venture out a negative tide into a hotspring, check out wildlife through the cabins many picture windows or upclose in the nearby tidepools...
...We visited for the first time in May and already have plans to go back.
The primitive cabins are solid wood. They have no running water or electricity, but the new (shared) bathrooms with running water and flush toilets feel luxurious. Each cabin has a separate bedroom, sleeps five via sleeping platforms, has a picnic table and benches, comes with a wood burning stove and an outdoor grill. The Steep Ravine was a favorite spot of photographer Dorothea Lange.
