Reader Project: Fruit and Vegetable Wall Graphics

Ohdeedoh reader Alexandra is trying to encourage her two-year-old to eat more veggies, so she came up with these inspiring graphics using vintage paper placemats she found in her grandfather's design studio. Keep reading to find out how she added her own design elements to transform simple placemats into cute art.

Alexandra tells us:

"I thought [the placemats] would make a good wall covering for our open dining area but needed a little something more. I took colored Letraset film (also scavenged in the studio) and let the colors suggest various fruits and vegetables. I cut out the simplest shape I thought would be identifiable for each type. Most of these I did freehand. The peas and lemon I sketched on the back of the film. You could do the same thing with a big thick marker, or Contact paper, or even construction paper and glue, but I do like the transparency of the films."

Thanks for sharing, Alexandra!
