Yesterday we showed you a designer makeover to your basic, white outdoor chair. It was almost unanimously voted as a fail, but reader Sandra from Boston, chimed in with a lovely felt alternative. Felt. They make any folding chair more attractive and are perfect for a backyard bbq or unexpected guests. Details after the jump...
Here's what Sandra has to say about her comfortable creations:
"We use folding chairs often as outdoor seating and for guests. I wanted something to dress up the chairs, provide comfort, and be small enough to store away when not in use (otherwise whats the point of folding chairs?). My solution were rectangles of industrial felt. At 1/4" thick each, its just enough cushioning, and when I don't need the extra seating, I can double them up on our everyday chairs instead of storing them away."
We think it's a great diy project for someone looking to personalize their seating and is a great alternative to the traditional puffy and fluffy chair pad. If you're not into making them yourself, we discovered Sandra has them listed in her Etsy store! Take a look!
Thanks Sandra!

sew three of these together to make a thicker pad and you will have something
oh, that's brilliant. I have a set of four wooden folding chairs (probably nearly identical to those) that live inside a gate-leg table, and they could definitely use some softening up. seems like a good excuse to learn to needle felt (for the accents), too. :)
how thick *are* they?
Etsy says, 1/4".
