(Welcome to Bathroom Month! We're taking inspiring bathroom submissions from our readers and giving gifts in return. Join us. All info is here.) Welcome to Carrie! Here's a rarity in New York City -- a powder room! My boyfriend and I lucked out last year with a lovely duplex in Brooklyn, and we were stunned to suddenly have a second bathroom. I mainly use this to get ready in the morning, a real luxury that possibly prevents fistfights between us... Since we're renters, we're pretty much stuck with the dated fixtures and lighting. But I wanted to brighten the place up and loved the idea of blues, pale greens and bright oranges. So I painted the dull white room "old pickup blue" from Benjamin Moore, but I prefer to think of it as "Tiffany box blue." The sheer, dotted curtains are Thomas O'Brien from Target. The framed needlepoint was from a yard sale, and the flowers used to grace my desk at the office. (Sure, fake flowers are cheesy, but they are cute and I have a black thumb.) Carrie in Brooklyn
