*swoon* All these are so stunning, but if I had to choose one I think it would have to be the first one. Those chairs! I could see having Ella playing from the other room, finishing dinner and relaxing for hours in those chairs, killing a few bottles of wine while laughing with friends.
I agree - the first one is stunning, and it's not because of the view or the odd "Chandelier"
Those vintage smoking table sets (the tables are @ 26-27" high) are perfect for smaller homes and allow for lounging at the table over a long meal - They're rather hard to come by tho, I wish that furniture manufacturers would make them again.
I love the first one too. It looks so cozy and I like the table and the plaid chairs.
The cicatrices de luxe 8, flos suspension lamp is the most hideous fixture in the world. I don't get it at all and it makes me cringe when everytime I see it. Yuck.
Oh my. I could sit in that first room all day long.
The first one!!
. . .modern, vintage, textured, intimate, comfortable.
Interesting how the first one, though it's clearly very exposed due to the windows, feels more intimate simply because the table and chairs are "contained" on a round rug. Comparing all the dining rooms, it feels even more intimate to me than the dining room in number 5. I prefer designs 3 or 6, for my own home, but am really drawn to the perception of intimacy in 1. Great lesson on rugs (for me!).
I would expect #1 to appeal to the MCM crowd. It is very nice, although clearing the books from the table and the cushions from the chairs would make it more relaxing to me. I really like #3 for entertaining, although I suspect it is the architecture of the room that I am drawn to. The enticing peek at #7 makes me want to see more. The color and feel are very appealing.
Not in love with any of these. Number 3 comes closest to something I might live with.
A huge thank you to Apartment Therapy and the wonderful comments made on this post. I am the creator behind image #1 and am glad to have inspired a few design affeciandos with that dining set in the clouds off Chicago's Michigan Avenue. It is part of a project being featured on my website by the end of this month. Check out www.jrstudiodesign.com for more. You can follow us on Twitter as well - JRStudioDesign.
Bravo, JR.
While I am an educated 'pro' and I can discuss the what's and how's behind your design, ultimately it comes down to the feel which is what most people connect with.
I find this really interesting (and my intent is not to sound corny here) as it takes this kind of work towards the broader idea of what an artisitic endeavour this is.
