Two New Air Purifiers for Allergy Season (Plus a Super Cute Humidifier for Good Measure!)

Today certainly is not the first time I’ve talked about air purifiers on Apartment Therapy but it felt appropriate, as allergy season ramps up, to show you two newer versions of purifiers that I reviewed last year — along with a humidifier that I just couldn’t help but include. Last year I reviewed an older Blueair model, the Classic ECO10, emphasizing its powerful filtration capacities and its Swedish minimalist design. Their newest family of purifiers, the Classic Family, has all of Blueair’s recognizable features but with an improved purifying performance and now wi-fi capabilities. It comes in four different sizes depending on the size of the space you are working with (I went with the 405 model, which can handle a room of a little over 400 square feet). This newer model also has something called HEPASilent technology, which removes 99.97% of pollutants and allergens and does it at whisper levels of noise. AND you can pair the app with the monitor to get updates in real time about the air quality of your home. Smart home technology strikes again!

Dyson also has a new model of its Pure Cool Link Tower, which I called “the air purifier of the future” back in 2016. Well, the future is past. Dyson is back with their most advanced purifier to date, and since it was just unveiled yesterday, I can officially state that THIS is the air purifier of the future (yes, I’m sure I’ll be eating my words again in 2018). The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link tower does it all: top-notch filtration, powerful air flow throughout the room, and a live sensor of the air quality — yes, it too has an app. It fans in the summer, heats in the winter, all while capturing ultra-fine particles and harmful gases year-round. And this new one is launching in this new nickel color in addition to blue and white, which I think is an especially chic touch.

Last but not least, I just couldn’t help but throw this guy into the mix. No, he’s not an air purifier, but who doesn’t need a nice humidifier no matter the season? I saw Leibal at a booth last month at the Architectural Digest Design Show and I just knew I had to get one in the office. The bottle humidifier is small, sophisticated, and conveniently powered by USB. Originally designed for your desk (just plug it into your computer!) it can generate plenty of humidity for any personal space — in fact 30mL of it an hour. Designed by South Korea-based design firm Cloudandco, this bottle humidifier is expertly designed but it won’t show all the inner-workings. All YOU see is the modern aesthetic, the soft flow of humidity (available in a constant stream or in intervals!), and hydrated skin. If you have to deal with the allergy cloud this season, let’s consider this desk humidifier its silver lining.
