If you're anything like me, a earlier this month, you delighted in the arrival of your new IKEA catalog. You wistfully poured over the pages of impossibly perfect living rooms and kitchens before gazing back up at the shopping bag abandoned by your front door, the shoes discarded in the corner, the yet-to-be-hung art poking out from its hiding spot under the bed. Hrmpf. Alas, IKEA itself wants to personally help you resolve your envy—they Swedish retailer is currently casting for the next season of its home makeover show.
"Home Tour," which airs on the home furnishing store's YouTube channel, is looking for people who need a makeover: IKEA announced an open casting call for the new season earlier this week.
Per the show's website, the brand is back "on the road helping America improve life at home with simple design solutions." That's right, a team of five design experts (clad in the retailer's trademark yellow shirts) will be making over homes with IKEA furnishings and decor. To enter, just submit a two-to three-minute video describing a personal goal and how a home makeover can help make that goal a reality.
For this season (their fourth), the IKEA design squad is visiting Philadelphia, New York City and New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia, and Boston. So if you live in any of the aforementioned areas and have a thing for affordable Scandinavian design, it's time to get ready for your close up.
Philadelphia submissions are open first, from now until September 24; New York and New Jersey residents can submit between October 9 and November 12; Maryland and Virginia from January 1 to February 4, 2018; and those in Boston from February 26 to April 1, 2018.
