I've been suffering from some mild symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome in last month or so, and I knew part of the problem was how I had set up my laptop in front with an additional LCD monitor on the side. Hunching down while looking at the screen while typing while also turning slightly to my left resulted in an ergonomic strain. I knew I had to change the layout of my workstation, beginning with how and where I'd position my laptop, and that's where the Rain Design mStand came to the rescue...
Made of cast aluminum, sand-blasted to a silver anodized finish, the Rain Design mStand for MacBook Pro is designed to perfectly complement the Apple designed laptop to a "T", with a curved base, a wire routing hole in the rear to keep wire clutter in check, an opening in the front to unlatch open the laptop easy, and a finish that blends in with the computer to create a seamless single unit.
The elegant design mimics Apple's aluminum construction, but it isn't all just for looks sake, as the aluminum helps dissipate any heat emanating from the laptop while on the stand (if I wanted to go all out, I guess I could accessorize with their aluminum wrist rest too, but I like my Wacom Bamboo too much).
Also at this height (the mStand increases screen height by 6"), my laptop now is at an improved ergonomic height for extended use. Although, I've decided currently as a precaution to use the larger external monitor as the primary screen, positioning it directly in front of me with a wireless keyboard and keeping the laptop closed, which has just about eliminated any pain previously felt. It's interesting to note how just a few degrees turned this way, a few inches seated up, down or to the side can make all the difference in your health, and the mStand is an aesthetic and practical aid to keep your ergonomic setup in ideal position. No complaints here...just praise for a simple product that has become a welcome part of my home office almost immediately.

just picked one of these up last week after yearning for one since they were released. build quality is top notch and it matches my MBP perfectly. still getting used to the increased height, but i agree it's amazing what the slightest adjustments can do.
Will post pictures of my new set up in the next few days.
Keeping my laptop at that height on a desk would create an ergonomic problem for me. I'm 164cm tall and I'd have to reach up to type on the keyboard.
^^^ you're not supposed to type on the laptop's keyboard with the mstand. you're supposed to connect an external keyboard.
ooo that's nice.
I am just popping in to say how much I like Rain Design. I've been using their iLap stand with my little MacBook. It's great on the sofa (no more beet-red thighs!), and it elevates the laptop to a nice height if you remove the wrist/knee pad and set the stand on a table. Sort of pricy, maybe, but it works SO so well.
