Name: Rebecca & Ed
Location: Upper West Side — New York, New York
This just-about 500 square foot one bedroom apartment is a familiar NYC layout. It's on the 4th floor of a brownstone, located on a tree-lined street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan…
Our style is very modern/minimal with a touch of warm and cozy. The obvious problem we had to overcome with our apartment is LACK OF SPACE. For example, our bedroom was so narrow that we couldn't have bedside tables. Instead, we used wedge shelves from CB2 to hold our alarm clocks, etc. I have learned so much about turning a teeny Manhattan apartment into a space maximizer!
Thanks Rebecca & Ed!

Where is the red cabinet that is holding the TV from? LOVE IT!
I second what ErinPB said - love your TV cabinet. We've been on the hunt for something similar. Where did you find it?
I'm pretty sure that cabinet is the torsby sideboard from Ikea. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40115023
I really like this layout, actually makes the space look bigger
Does anyone know the source for the dining/desk chairs?
It looks like the dog has outgrown his/her bed and prefers to sleep in the owners' room.
The first picture I thought was kind of bland, then the red popped in the 3rd picture! I like! But, I also think adding a little more color would definitely go a long way here. Nothing bulky, but just like a little flower vase, etc. Love the way you positioned the furnitures!
Really well done! Love the clear chairs at the dining table...you barely notice them. :-)
Love the minimalist look with calm colors. So nice to see this color scheme. Would love to see the kitchen and bath. We lived in a 527 sq ft studio so am always excited to see how others make accommodations with so little space.
Liking the red, but it is used so sparingly. I think a little more color can really make this place shine.
Those tiny triangular bedside tables are genius!
Cute place, but ever thought about switching the couch and the TV? Seems a shame to have the couch on the same wall as the fireplace rather than facing towards it. (Even if this is a non-working fireplace.)
@knitsmcgee
If it's the torsby, they changed the handles (either ikea or the owners). Good find, though, if you break out the paint. Though with the lighting in the photos, I'm not even convinced that is red... maybe a reddish wood grain?
LOVE that chair in the living room! Where did you guys get it?
@aallam
That chair is "just" the saarinen womb chair. Not uncommon, but pricey.
Similar red console here, though I sure like the legs on the pictured one above better: http://www.cb2.com/storage/furniture/fuel-red-credenza/f6249
Putting the "efficient" in efficiency! I love the dining corner with the invisible chairs -- great move!
@UWSider: either that or the pup likes to hang out anywhere and everywhere his/her peep(s) are! My dogs have several giant beds of varying fluffiness, but still want to be wherever I am, no matter how small or uncomfortable the spot looks to me. Just last night, I was folding laundry in my 2x3'-floored laundry room, WITH dryer door open into the "space," and my 85-pounder shoehorned himself in there with me.
I love how the clear dining chairs almost disappear so they don't take up any visual space.
Great apartment, Ed and Rebecca. Love the duvet cover.
i'm in love with rebecca's blog! you can see more of their apartment here:

Cute! Cute! Cute!
Love the lack of clutter, despite the small space. But I don't see any lighting; Is all of your lighting overhead?
@lepidoptery, "just" is right! Thanks for the tip - after a little Googling, I'm now a bit more educated on the subject. ;-)
Does anyone know the source of the dining chairs and table?
@ sriley I believe the table looks like it maybe from West Elm and the chairs look like something I saw at ZGallerie. If those are not the actual places where these came from, those places have very similar products.
I love the grey chair in the living room, and the clear chairs at the table! What a great layout and maximization of space :)
Most of her items came from CB2
Great light and a petit place that looks cozy not cramped. Real nice.
This is a lovely home. I'm always in awe of minimalists, being a clutterbug. This is lovely and light.
It's a little tight, but I tell you, I love it!! Really cute and you make great use of the space!
like the clean simplicity of this place. But really like the dog. Reminds me of my own.
Nice,, but I switch the tv and the couch,, against the fireplace, because the fireplace is always our focal point in the room,,i like how you broke up the light colors with some red in it,, the leather couch is perfect,i would place it against the fireplace,, maybe open it up a little bit...
oh, i also want 500sq like that... sigh =)
Yes, I agree, most items are from CB2. I recognize the dresser in the bedroom and the red credenza in the living room. I almost bought both of them. I like them so much. The apartment looks lovely. I don't think it needs more color. This is their style- bright, clean, calm.
