We are excited about the new year and new decade and wanted to start the year by sharing our old duplex. We spent time creating a warm space that was good for entertaining close friends and mostly a comfortable refuge, providing a sanctuary in a rather not so ordinary 2009.
After years of living small we finally had a bit more space, a lot of natural light in our main room and an outdoor space to entertain friends. We planned our space using affordable decor and keeping true to our easy going design style. We also wanted to try our hand at wallpaper and found a neat temporary option, Tempaper. This was great for us since, as renters, we couldn't go all out with this accent. We had room to float our sofa, allowing us to create balance with bookcases behind it. Although we finally had a dedicated dining room, we preferred to hangout and entertain around the coffee table. And our favorite and insanely affordable flea market find of the year - a Danish credenza - had a nice spot in our main room so we could enjoy it everyday. Although we don't live in this space anymore, we enjoyed the flow and natural light and look forward to more design ideas in 2010.
