Great inspiration can come from garbage, as is the case with the Reborn cardboard sofa from Korean design studio Monocomplex.
Taking 127 sheets of corrugated cardboard from the trash, bonding them together into a solid block, and then cutting out the shape with a grinder and saw, Monocomplex created an object that's more sculpture than it is furniture.
The rough-hewn chair was shaped freehand, with the designer sitting on the cardboard and gradually carving away pieces until the contours felt just right.
Check out their video for a behind-the-scenes look at how a stack of discarded cardboard became "Reborn."

My cat would absolutely love this! Her idea of heaven is cardboards all the time.
It looks like a rough version of the Little Beaver chair by Frank Gehry.
Call me crazy, but I love it!
I'm completely inspired and love it!
"Sofa"? I'd say chair.
Also, more of an art piece than furniture. (That much laminated cardboard would be pretty heavy, by the way...)
Something must be wrong with me. All I can imagine is how many little bugs and stuff can get into all the little crevices. :S
Gross. No.
I have recently become adept at telling a dresser from a bureau from a high-boy/ tall-boy from a chest. But does anyone know the difference between a sofa and a couch?
(Definitive source, IMO, is: dresser is wider than it is tall and had a mirror to go with it, whether or not the mirror is still associated with the dresser is another issue altogether. A bureau has no mirror and is as tall as it is wide, but highboy/tall boy is taller than it is wide. A chest is another word for a highboy, but's it can also be petite case of drawers).
That looks like the most uncomfortable chair in the world. o.O
I'm all for recycling materials to make new things and cut back on waste, but I'm sorry this is hideous. It looks like it came from a dumpster. I wouldn't want this in my house :-(
Some things really DO belong in the landfill
It's "more sculpture than it is furniture" -- well, THAT's an easy way out. And the cake I burned yesterday is more sculpture than it is dessert.
