Attention DIYers, upcyclers, and rehabbers: Rebuilding Exchange has moved to a new, larger warehouse space and they're filling it up with gently used building materials.
Whether you're a DIY who is hoping to pick up some low cost building materials or you're a rehabber who is gutting a home, you need to know about Rebuilding Exchange. The DIYer will find a vast selection gently used building materials. The warehouse is broken up into sections – doors, lumber, windows, lighting and even plumbing are laid out for your perusal.
Of course, Rebuilding Exchange would be nothing but an empty warehouse if not for the donations of rehabbers. From contractors to DIY rehabbers, you can call Rebuilding Exchange and they'll pick up your old materials. You know what they say: one man's trash is another man's treasure. Diverting these materials from a landfill will give a handy DIYer their next project.

why are there no comments on this? It's such a great idea! I could do so much with a resource like this. I wish we had one near here!
Heads up!-the website link is misspelled. Thanks for profiling this place- I plan to check it out!
This is awesome! I remember there was a place very similar to this in Portland and I was so jealous. New York has nothing like this!

This was one of the few stores I kept as a secret, but now that it's out.... They are amazing people, and have great stuff there for DIY projects. Can't say enough about these guys, I've bought tons of awesome things from them.
Does anyone happen to know of a store like this in Florida?
I have never been able to make it down to their old location when they're open. (My husband and I drove down there once only to find they were closed.) I'm SOOOOOOO excited they've moved closer to me! Thanks for posting this. When we're in the Northwest suburbs we go to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Elgin. Now there's a reuse store 15 minutes from me. Awesome!
Please tell me someone knows of a similar place on this scale in the Los Angeles area.
anyone know of something like this in CT?

SEATTLE has a great place like this called second use = http://www.seconduse.com/
its fun looking online at the inventory pictures. In person they have a great selection of old keys and faceplates, knobs etc.
every city should have a place like this instead of tossing torn down places into landfills
a little south of Chicago.. Champaign, IL has a similar concept store, PACA: Preservation and Conservation Association. They also put up the good fight to prevent historical buildings from being destroyed.
