We've all probably seen recessed cocoa mats used in commercial and retail entries and vestibules. But we have also seen a few in residences that are quite nice. The mats are generally set flush with the finish flooring, recessed down into the floor.

Cocoa mats do a great job of removing the dirt and grime of the city streets from the bottoms of your shoes. Recessed into the floor, they appear clean and modern. And they can be pulled out for a good shaking outside or for full replacement. You can purchase cocoa mats to size at places like this. The mats are about 1/2" thick, which means they can be set fairly flush into a wood or tile floor.
