The Pasadena Showcase House is an annual event that happens in Pasadena, California. A chosen historic home is transformed by several interior and garden designers. The home is then opened to the public with proceeds benefiting music programs in the area. I always thought of the gardens associated with the homes to be much more formal, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this amazing testament to reclaimed materials and creative reuse for the kitchen garden at this year's home.
Alastair Boase and Katharine Parra partnered to create this garden out of almost nothing and in only a few weeks. They built a pergola, raised beds for vegetables and herbs, walls and bench planters, all utilizing reclaimed materials. Even the fireplace was built from original bricks found on the property!
Thanks to awesome local garden shop, Potted, for bringing this to my attention via their blog!
