We're posting about this specific tub caddy in part because we think it's lovely but also to raise a question — what, if anything, have you rigged to set up shop in the tub?
This tub caddy, which is finished with water-resistant tung oil, is available from Etsy seller PegandAwl. The wood comes from an old hardware store in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and the caddy includes holes for two votive candles.
Most of you probably won't want to spend $100 to essentially set up a desk in your tub. If that's the case, what DIY or more affordable retail solutions have you employed as a surface in your tub?

ah, gotta love Etsy finds!
This is way more romantic than what I've got going on in the bathtub! I have very long nursing school lectures to listen to on my laptop, so I've been setting two child-size chairs back to back about 8" apart, then resting my laptop on that so I can see the screen. Grab a beverage, throw on my earphones, and I'm good to go. Might have to look at building something like this for aesthetics, though!
I take my phone, stick it in a glass (cause I'm to cheap to buy a set of bathroom speakers) and listen to an audiobook.
I put my Con Law book on the ledge of my garden tub and twist uncomfortably. I only soak in the tub when I'm using epsom salt, though, so I have a hard time spending money or effort on anything other than that. But if baths are your thing, that looks really nice and would definitely be handy!
I love this! The wood used is truly beautiful.
This is great. I love it!
This is great!! But, you were right, I wouldn't spend $100 on it..
I have never understood the idea of doing anything in the bath tub other than soaking and, you know, bathing!
I can't read -- my hands are wet and I can't turn the pages.
I can't be bothered to have food or beverages, I'm soaking!
I suppose if the tech were handy, I might watch some TV in the tub, but basically I couldn't stand to be in the water long enough for more than a half hour show...
I just don't get it!
I love this so much. I *love* reading in the tub. Also drinking wine or tea or yes, beer. I keep a towel for hand-drying when I'm reading a paper book, or I stick my Kindle in a zip lock bag. So soothing. I only get to bathe at my in-laws' these days though. I dream of having a decent tub.
Oooooh! Yes, please! I love reading magazines in the bath. This would be great for me, as long as the wall side of the bath is wide enough not to send the thing flying.
holy cow! going straight for the scrap pile in the workroom tonight!
This is really beautiful, and treated correctly could be really smooth and durable.
God, i need better storage in the bath, this doesn't qualify but would keep heavier books out of the suds.
I really love this! Now all I need is for our bathroom tub to be fixed. :)

My family always jokes that I'm a reincarnated Roman, since I believe in the most decadent tub soaks possible.
When I'm going for a serious Bath I usually take in a good book, and hand towel, some sort of fizzy drink, something sweet likes grapes, something salty like my favorite crackers, and chocolate. Must have all the favorite food taste groups! I generally pull up a low stool near the head of the tub and just keep all the food there within easy reach.
The book gets balanced on the side of the tub. When I was younger I had a great wire-rack type thing that held books perfectly, but it eventually rusted. I'm quite tempted to make a new one.
I did almost all of my studying in college in the tub, and my set-up looked like the one in the picture except it was just a laminate shelf propped across. I give partial credit for good grades to the fact that I love lingering in the bath as long as possible.
the idea of reading in the tub always sounds so lovely, but after 5 minutes the water starts getting cold and I just wanna rinse off...But this is still a lovely photo and it'd be fun to use this caddy when styling a guest bathroom!

I use an old wood child's desktop that I found in the scrap bin in the basement of our house when we first moved in. I just finished grad school and did a lot of my winter studying in what my husband dubbed "tub office".
