Q: My husband and I are living in a small rental house, that to make a long story short is sitting on industrial land and will be bulldozed over in a few years. Because of this, the landlord is not willing to put any extra money into the house. We have gotten creative in making the rest of the house a nice home, but I'm falling short at this basement, and was hoping some of your readers might have some creative ideas! This is the only room in the house that is not finished, ie drywall etc. I was considering maybe making a fake wall with fabric, but am not sure yet. If anyone has some suggestions I would love to hear them!

Editor: Marg- In the end, this probably comes down to how much money and effort you want to put into this space. If you only use it for laundry, then it might not be worth it to invest a lot in a place that is going to be bulldozed. Even if you do come up with a solution for the wall, the unfinished ceiling is going to require some true ingenuity. We're opening this one up to folks with experience in basement renovations- readers, do you have any advice creative for Marg?
