Jelinek Cork Group, an organization that collects and recycles hundreds of thousands of used wine corks each year, offers a wide variety cork products running the gamut from fishing accessories and furniture to wall coverings and flooring. I was especially impressed by the look of their mosaic line, which seems to almost resemble the beauty of embedded coins. Aside from its stunning aesthetic, the mosaic cork flooring is as easy to install as the glue-and-grout method of any other ceramic tile and comes with a whole world of eco-friendly benefits.
Both a natural product and a renewable resource, cork makes a great home flooring option for a number of reasons. Aside from the soft and warm underfoot comfort, cork makes for an excellent insulator, is anti-allergenic and water resistant - making it perfect for wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms. As a durable, low-maintenance surface I have even seen friends sing its praises for its kid and pet-friendliness.

unfortunately it works out to $11/sqft.
are there specs/instructions for vertical installation, like for backsplash?
I love it, especially photo 3 with the neutral grout. I guess I'll have to save my pennies.
This look is gorgeous. I've never seen anything like it before!
#3 looks the best; it's a cool idea, but the white in the other photos is just painful.
I just love the feel of cork flooring underfoot, all the comfort of carpet and the durablity of wood/tile.
how cool is that? If I start recycle cork from every bottle I've opened now I will be there in about 10 years ;))))
wow, that is cool!
@bubusu: I've actually been saving corks for about 10yrs, and let me tell ya, it doesn't help that I found out 5yrs ago that whiskey is my fav drink. Blerg~
With what I've collected, I certainly wouldn't be able to cover my kitchen floor, but I thought maybe doing a headboard or accent wall in my kitchen might be nice. We'll see!
