Since we've been sipping our wine out of coffee mugs, (last week, our household managed to break the last 2 glasses from an original set of 4), we've been keeping our eye out for new ones.
Turns out that a wine "punt" is the small indentation at the bottom of a bottle. Colorado-based Wine Punts cuts discarded bottles in half, then sands the edge, repurposing it into one very unique drinking glass.
The top half of the bottles are then recycled. At $28 dollars for a set of four, we won't even miss our previous crystal set.
Cheers!

This seems like something one ought to be able to do themselves, with some basic tools. A glass cutter and a Dremel, maybe?
