Name:Kathleen Lucente, President, Red Fan and Loren Jacobs, Designer
Location: Hyde Park — Austin, Texas

Located just a few block from UT's campus in Austin, Texas, the Helms House was an infamous party house from the 70s through the 90s, known especially for its legendary Halloween parties. Since then, it fell into disrepair and sat empty, and was then used as an office space for various businesses.

In 2011, Kathleen Lucente, President of Red Fan Communications (a PR agency founded in 2008), purchased the property in and hired Interior Designer Loren Jacobs to bring the house back to life.

The Helms House now serves as the primary office space for Red Fan but looks nothing like a "normal" workplace. The second and third stories are filled with small, tucked-away rooms with slanted ceilings. There is even a cupola at the top -- it's said that firefighters originally used it as a lookout, but we now use it as a quiet workspace where we can lock ourselves away and get down to business, while paper-mache animal heads look down on us and we sit in furry bean bag chairs.

Thanks, Bristel, Kathleen and Loren!
