Refresh Paint by Dutch Boy

We can't believe someone didn't think of this sooner! Dutch Boy (paint magnate) has teamed with Arm & Hammer (deodorizing extraordinaire) to come up with Refresh, a wall paint that actually absorbs odors.

Refresh paint, available for walls and ceilings, traps odor vapor upon contact and locks scent within the paint film. Dutch Boy insists that even a good wall scrub won't release the odors and "the more surface area you paint, the better the odor eliminating technology works!" Besides the odor-absorbing capabilities, this paint product is also zero-VOC and mildew-resistant.

We haven't yet tried it out so we're eager to hear your review. Especially after a salmon dinner or cigar night, how do you know it's working?

i dont know if this is a joke or not.

I saw this advertised on TV last week and I would love to try it out. This would be fabulous for those of us who live in old buildings (ours late 1800s).

Just don't forget to change it every three months.

just one comment. The baking soda in your fridge absorbs the odors, then you throw it away. Why would you want your walls to absorb the odors of your house, I don't get it. It wouls smell really bad after a while or look dirty.

I thought that baking soda in the fridge does not really absorb odors-- it's more of a comfort sell, rather than based on science. So why it would destinkify your house if you add it to paint, what with all the other smelly chemicals in the paint-- I'm not believing this ad campaign-- not even a little bit.

I'll wait and see if someone does some real test on this product and calls it good/great! Some lab test, not one of AT or readers test.

HUH? These large corps. are always looking for a new gimmick to sell. And did you ever notice Febreeze doesn't make anything smell nearly as pleasant as one would hope?
Does anything really rule over soap, water, an open window, and/or a fan? Tho' I do like wood-free incense for myself.

love all the clamor ... maybe it will damage my brain??? ... why don't you try it first ... my buddy used it and says it's doing pretty well on the dog smells ... did not have that bad paint smell going up when i was there ... its got Arm&Hammer in it ...I think the real problem is no can tell him at the store how long it will last

We are moving in to my husbands grandparents house, who hadn't been able to take proper care of the house or themselves in a long time. We've started painting rooms and I've used the refresh paint (ceiling and walls) and love it so far. It really does cover well. There is no major paint smell once done. I had painted in the middle of winter with the windows closed, and had all the doors closed overnight. I had expected it to smell the next day, but you could barely even tell that I painted!! As for the Arm & Hammer, I don't think baking soda 'absorbs' it, but neutralizes it. Of course after a little while, it would stop doing that, just as you must replace the one in your fridge. And have you ever smelled the one in your fridge when you replace it, it doesn't smell or get dirty like some one commented.

I completely disagree with the idea that the baking soda in the fridge doesn't work. Just this week I put a box in my mini-fridge at work because despite it being empty and recently cleaned with clorox wipes, it had a smell that lingered every time you opened the door. Within a few hours, the smell was gone.

Anyway, if this paint works like they claim, I'd like to use it in the room where I keep my litter box.
