Maybe you hate your refrigerator or maybe the dishwasher you just got off Craigslist doesn't match your microwave. If you're a renter or a homeowner, here's one solution that could keep your appliance out of the landfill.

These refrigerator and dishwasher covers come in either adhesive vinyl, magnetic panels or real stainless steel. Could they be greener? Sure. Should you replace your old energy gulping appliance with something that merely sips electricity? Not necessarily. Keeping that hunk of trash out of the landfill might be a good idea. Plus if you're renting, you generally don't have that option.
These covers from Appliance Art come in a variety of finishes including stainless steel, chalkboard, whiteboard, or other artistic options. Or you could just turn that old refrigerator into a dog house.

Interesting idea!
I did this with my dishwasher. I just bought my first home and had a stainless fridge and microwave, but white dishwasher and stove. It wasn't worth it to replace the dishwasher because it's an appliance I rarely use. So I spent $40 and recovered it. I'm saving up for a new range. Who puts glass topped electric in a house plumbed for gas? Boo!
@Greige - people who dont cook and never used the stove so they go for the cheapest and easiest one...
Some people are also afraid of gas...
