Often, you see in our posts for relaxing spaces a lot of tips about keeping colors light and cool, furniture sparse, etc. While those are definitely ways to add serenity to the place you start and end each day, they aren't the only things you can do to create a relaxing bedroom, as these gorgeous examples from our house tours prove. So what did we spot in all of these beautiful rooms from Apartment Therapy tours that made for a relaxing bedroom? Many of these spaces have great, soft light. Windows don't let too much harsh sunlight in, and window treatments are manipulated to create soft light to filter throughout the space. Where windows aren't a possibility, warm lighting in the form of lamps is used effectively.
We definitely saw some light and cool colors, but we also saw colors that were no doubt calming to the person living in the room. We like that even if a color might feel bold to some, if it's relaxing to you, it's right. We spotted a lot of texture; in the form of great bedding, soft pillows, and more. Folks really took the time to personalize their bed in a way that would make them feel the most comfortable.
And finally, perhaps our favorite (because we tend to forget this ourselves) — we loved all the little moments of design that make you smile that we spied in the spaces. In other words, treating your bedroom with the same design eye that you use to approach more public rooms of your house, and giving care and attention to not just art arrangements, but also cute and charming vignettes.
