Are you a LEED-accredited architect looking to share your knowledge and love of green design and building materials to a large (and ever growing) audience? Well, then you might be just the person we're looking for. Re-Nest is looking to add a weekly column called Green Architect that would delve deep into the green ideas, materials, and processes that are shaping the future of green building. Interested in applying? All the details are below the jump...
We are looking for:
A LEED-accredited architect with a knowledge of green architecture, design, and building for a weekly column called Green Architect. This column is intended to be a resource for our readers interested in green building or renovation projects who want an insider's take on all the breaking green design news, products, projects, How-To's, etc.
Re-Nest's Mission: How do I make a difference? Can you answer this question? We are trying. Every day we provide answers to this question from all angles by covering the intersection of the “green” movement and the “home decor” movement. Core to our mission is the communication of a general overarching sense of intelligence and optimism. Green, to us, is an amazing design challenge which we can solve.
Apartment Therapy's Mission: constantly helping people to have beautiful, organized, healthy homes, through blogging resources, reviewing products, tracking the news and providing inspiration.
You need:
- to be a LEED-accredited architect working full-time in your field
- a commitment to/knowledge of green living, green design and building
- a good eye for design
- strong blog-style writing skills
- a good computer
- a totally reliable high speed connection
- a digital camera and excellent photography skills
- Photoshop
- knowledge of how to use all these things
Deadline: Please submit to us using the form below by Monday, September 7 midnight tonight, September 8th.
What Happens Next:
We will review all entries and then ask our top 6 choices to try out live on the blog for our final decision. We will contact you in the next week! If you were one of the first few to submit before we added an "Email" field to the form, please send your email address to green (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com.
Thanks!

Z2 iPod Dock and Wi...
Buildings are certified, people are accredited.
rarelement, thanks for the clarification. Not being an architect ourselves (hence the reason we're looking for one!), we always get confused on that, so thanks for the heads up.
no problem. good luck with the hunt!
i am a registered architect. while i appreciate the goals behind LEED, i think that you should reconsider that requirement for your position. i really think you are limiting your selection with this requirement. LEED accreditation is not required to work on a LEED project, so why should it be required to write about it? there has recently been a large push for LEED accreditation in our office, but having the designation means nothing if you don't "walk the walk". i work with a large number of people, who don't carry the LEED accreditation, but they bring more experience & knowledge of green design, and green living on a daily basis, to the table than most of the LEED accredited professionals in our office. i could give numerous examples, but this post would be pages. also, the recent restructuring of the whole LEED accreditation process has also been a big turn off, to a large number of people. maybe i am missing something, and if anyone has some insight, please fill me in.
How about broadening the search beyond architects? There are many designers and, ahem, engineers that are quite knowledgeable and interested in sustainable design. An "insider's take on all the breaking green design news, products, projects, How-To's, etc." isn't necessarily exclusive to architects.
Thlitt, we are open to all possibilities at this point! Feel free to apply through the form and tell us what you have to offer!
Guess we had to submit by Monday at 9am, even though a formal time was not posted. One less LEED AP Architect with all the qualifications to consider. Best of luck!
Yeah, bummer. I got back from a trip and finally had access to a computer, only to find out the undisclosed time of deadline was in the morning instead of the end of the day. How unfortunately.
The new blog should provide a good tie-in for those practicing architecture, engineering, etc. Keep up the good work!
Katherine_d and bdesign, we've extended the deadline until the end of the today (Tuesday) since the form was shut off in the morning of the 7th instead of the evening. Please submit!
Oh no! I just saw this post... I gave up after trying on Monday, is it still possible to submit?
