If yesterday's post about ways to make your bathroom stand out made you sad because you're renting and you think that means you can't have a really awesome bathroom, despair no more. Here are five bathroom-improving ideas that will make your space a cut above the rest — without making you lose your deposit.
1. Add a colorful rug.
Colorful textiles (like this rug from Woodwoolstool on Etsy) are one of the easiest ways to make a big impact in your bathroom.
2. Paint your ceiling.
If the landlord will allow, painting the ceiling is a great way to add a little color to a small space without overwhelming it.
3. Try a gallery wall.
Obviously this is not a place for your priceless antiques (although, fun fact, the Mona Lisa once hung in a bathroom at Fontainebleau), but a gallery wall is a great way to add a little excitement to a boring bathroom (and give you something to look at when you're taking care of business).
4. Switch your boring mirror for one with a big impact.
Since it's such a big piece, and such a focal point, changing out your mirror can have a big effect on the feel of your whole bathroom. Just make sure to find a place to stow the old one (and save the mounting hardware).
5. Go crazy with plants.
As long as you have a window, the right kind of plants can be perfectly happy in your bathroom. Mixing and matching them can result in a pleasant little green jungle that will make your bathroom feel like an entirely new place.
