Shaw's Original Fir...
These rentals are lovely - but I rent a horrible , daggy old seventies house, which has not been maintained. Carpet is stained, walls are stained etc. Can't do anything with these. Can't afford to spend money of someone else's house when I plan to only be here a couple more years, and it will prob be knocked down when we leave.....
These apartments all have such lovely architecture! Hardwood floors, french doors, bay windows ! These things are a Huge Advantage to having a great looking room.
Vic it's worth a couple of cheap cans of paint to not have to look at stained walls for another month let alone another yr! And if the landlords too cheap to pay for it then u are doing HIM a favour by painting any colour at all. Do it!! Rip out the gross carpet and paint the subfloor if its getting demolished anyway!
Vic, homeMADEhome makes a great point. And if money is tight, paint one room a month! :) Even if your landlord is enough of an idiot to keep your deposit AND your hard work when you move, you'll enjoy coming home to a nicer place so much before then that it's worth it! Good luck!!!
Go ahead and paint - you are the one that has to live in it. Be happy and make it your home for now. I have done this. I love the chocolate brown bedroom and so many other features of the renters places.
