Repairing an Antiqued Mirror?

Repairing an Antiqued Mirror?

Q: I recently purchased this sunburst mirror from Direct from Mexico, and was thrilled to discover it's even more gorgeous in person. I was not thrilled, however, with the fact that it arrived with damage to two of the mirrored rays. The store has offered to replace the mirror, or to reimburse me for the cost of repairs. Because I'm afraid that a replacement mirror will arrived damaged as well, I would like to investigate having it repaired but I don't know where to start! As you can see, the mirrored glass rays have an antique finish. Any suggestions?

Editor: Jennifer- We've heard good things about the work of Giovanni Nason at the Glass and Crystal Restoration Center in Potomac (301-340-2624), but don't have any info on the potential cost. We would love to hear from readers in the DC area who have any personal experience with glass or mirror repair; share your advice in the comments below.
