Repairing Loose Vinyl Tiles

Pin it button big

Ever had a vinyl tile come loose because of aged or weak adhesive? Do you have curled seams or bulges in your sheet vinyl flooring, making for an uneven and unattractive finish? An easy fix is to position some aluminum foil over your loose or bulging vinyl tile, and use a clothes iron at medium-hot temperature ontop. The aluminum foil will prevent burning the tile, and the heat will re-melt the glue so you can adhere it again to the surface underneath. Use a stack of heavy books or your collection of Dwell, Martha Stewart Home, Los Angeles, or whatever collection of periodicals you have lying around to apply direct pressure for proper adhesion. Wait a 4-6 hours, and your vinyl flooring should be as good as new.
