Though we've featured many DIY lighting ideas in the past, these bike inspired fixtures from artist Carolina Fontoura Alzaga are a step above the rest. At first glance the bicycle rim catches your eye and then you slowly start to realize that those aren't beads... they're bike chains!

We had a hard time choosing 5 photos to share with you as Carolina does everything from wall sconces to floor lamps and extravagant overhead chandeliers. And they are all captivating in their own right. We're sure they weigh a great deal, but it's a small price to pay for having one in your home.

You can check out more of Carolina's work from her website. It's all quite inspirational and I'm officially collecting bike chains from here until the end of time to attempt making one on my own!
