We are a big fan of the repurposed drawer movement that we've been seeing on Apartment Therapy recently. So when we spotted Amanda's new spin on an instant classic, we thought of numerous ways to translate (and alter) this look for your own space.
Changing out the drawer pulls can add an interesting detail that can play up the "wow factor" of repurposed drawers on your wall.
Paint the inside of the drawer a bold color or leave the raw wood for a more organic feel.
Rotate your vintage finds, display a vase of full of flowers or showcase your collection of vintage cameras--the options are endless.
Living in Echo Park, we see discarded dressers and desks all the time. If you're not lucky enough to happen upon a discarded drawer, hit up your local thrift store or flea market for these inexpensive finds.
Play around with alternating drawer sizes. A long rectangular drawer would be really neat in a smaller space (acting as a shelf to store your items). Or create a wall of repurposed drawers--just make it your own!
And not that we think displaying empty frames has gone out of style--but displaying repurposed drawers might be the new trend popping up in homes.

Brilliant!
Lovely idea!!
But, more importantly, I have that chair sitting below the display and I want (read need) to find another one. Any, ideas on where I can get my hands on one (in Hawaii)?
next antique shopping spree.... look for drawers.
in the grand scheme of "wow, that's an amazing idea i've never seen before" (which is why i come to AT), this might top the list.
as said above: brilliant...
however, in 2 years, will wall-hung drawers become the next (___)? (transit scroll, taxidermy, etc.)
Very "Beth!"
That is super cool...
Hi HawaiiNei,
That's my apt. (yay!) and unfortunately, I found the chair at a local thrift shop and reupholstered it. It wasn't marked so I have no idea who made it - sorry!
Thanks for the lovely comments! This post reminds me I need to swap out the glove mold and shuttlecock for some new objects!
Thanks Redjet!
I figured as much, I got mine from a co-worker who was moving to the mainland. I bought her dresser and she threw in the chair becuase I loved it so much.
I guess I'll have to keep a look out for another such jem!
redjet,
Just wanted to let you know I found another one of 'our' chairs. One of the newspapers in Hawaii recently merged with another paper and they had an auction at the old newspaper's site this past Saturday, and there it was. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and reupholstered.
