Resource for Soy or Beeswax Unscented Pillar Candles? Good Question

Q: I'm learning to treat myself with lit candles on a more regular basis, and I usually just buy assorted white pillars from IKEA, but I'm concerned about the petroleum content. I'm wondering if readers have found a great source of inexpensive, unscented pillar candles made of soy or beeswax. I'd be happy to buy in bulk, I just don't know where to turn!

I think PartyLite candles are soy based (but don't quote me...ask a PartyLite consultant to be sure!).

I do know they don't smoke, and burn clean (no wax dripping, etc.). I know they have unscented varieties as well.

Try a farmers market, some tend to have bee keepers that sell candles.

You have every right to be concerned about candles made with petroleum (paraffin). A new study on the effects of paraffin candles proves there are toxic chemicals that emit from paraffin candles when burned ~ that do NOT emit from soy candles.

If your looking to buy soy pillar candles in bulk, find a soy candle retailer who will allow you to participate in a "wholesale" type program. You will find if you can meet their minimum order, you just may get up to 50% off retail!

PartyLite candles are NOT SOY. While they may burn clean, they may still emit the same toxins as other paraffin type candles.

Lastly, make sure to purchase soy candles from a reputable company and don't hesitate to ask questions. Believe it or not, companies are only required to add about 10% soy wax to be able to call their products "soy candles".
