White Enamel Flatwa...
Ah. The third one I loved and thought it was a cover! I have a base in the attic. But it's iron!! Love it! Wish I had the room and the $$$!!
Years ago COST PLUS sold these where you can buy interchangeable seating in canvas. I'm sorry I never purchased one; but I did for an friend that we are no longer. :o(
I bought a natural color canvas cover from Circa 50 for a thrifted butterfly base. The cover cost more than the base but I'm not complaining. I can't say enough good things about the sturdiness of the canvas and stitching. Now I need to save up for a matching footstool.
Someone randomly gave me half a cow hide and I took it in with the canvas sling I already had to my dry cleaner asking if he knew anyone who could make a leather one and he did! It cost me about $150 or $200, but totally worth it. It's my precious!
The first one looks like an angora rabbit I once knew! ;^)
If this style of chair were taller, I'd TOTALLY buy that first one to go with my desk. It looks so much more comfortable than my little IKEA folding chair.
I've kicked myself so many times for leaving my 2 chairs in the hallway when I moved out of my last building. If only I could get them back.
FYI for anyone who is thinking about going the more inexpensive route with the World Market chair... it's currently on sale for $99 and with their 25% off all furniture promotion going on, you can get it for $75.
I have been looking at getting a leather butterfly chair for a couple months, but really didn't want to spend much over $200. I was really excited to get the World Market one when I read this post. Before ordering online I called a local store to see if they had it in stock. They did and I went over there to get it. However, once I saw it in person I just couldn't get it, even for the price. It just looked so cheap and the base (because it not a solid frame)
looked like it was not fully extended unless you sat in it. I would really not recommend it unless you don't really care about the quality/look of the piece but just want a cheap facsimile.
Does anyone know if the one sold at urban outfitters is any better?
I also love the design of the butterfly chair and have bought a few of them over the years. Until my most recent one, produced by Big BKF in Argentina, they hadn't lasted very long because of the poor workmanship. Big BKF, bigbkf.com, has a selection of high end premium Argentine leather covers to choose from, and frames that fit together perfectly and are the correct size for the cover. I just saw they started offering a waterproof version of the chair as well to use outdoors that I might get for the summertime.
