Call it the Mad Men effect. Or maybe it's just because styles recycle themselves. Whatever the cause, mid-century modern is having a huge impact on today's style. We've rounded up the best resources for achieving the look — whether you want to buy new or go authentic by buying vintage…

Love the clean colours in these designs. We're doing the same at home at the moment. Jus t got some muted grey soft furnishings and it really ties everything together without looking like messy scatter cushions. Love them. Thanks for a great blog! http://tworedtrees.co.uk/product/221/hand-printed-limited-edition-jubilee-coat-of-arms-cushion

For higher end and to-the-trade, I love the vaguely-vintage Mad Men-esque feel of Ted Boerner's furniture.
Great list. Not into Mid century modern myself. But have friends who are.
I've grown up with (surrounded by) MCM and Scandanavian design. My father was always buying pieces of teak furniture that didn't look like any of the furniture my friends homes did. I only understood and appreciated this as I got older and of course now I love mixing in pieces. But, as an adult, I'm finding that this 'trend' to MCM has made it harder to find original older pieces to refinish on Kijji and Craigslist. Because suddenly even people who weren't aware that it's 'cool' are now in tune to it, so they've started hiking up the asking prices of even the most run down items. Very frustrating because it's becoming the new condo build with manditory granite countertop effect. When it become commonplace, it suddenly loses it's cache.
Night - look for vintage Danish modern pieces - they're everywhere, and quite cool. For those "tired" of the "MCM" "trend," just look to the next trend and leave it be as an authentic and situated way of living for those who enjoy its flexibility and simplicity.
Thanks for the great resources! I really like Mid Century Modern because it reminds me of a time when people were dreamers. People were excited about the possibility of exploring space and having robots as house keepers. Their dreams were reflected in their design choices which is why I really love MCM. I think that we've kind of stopped dreaming as a collective community, so I want to keep the dream of something exciting alive in my own MCM-inspired apartment design.
@girl & lamp - never? My parents wanted MCM in their first home, and that was 30 years ago? Having grown up with it, it's something I desire for my own house, in small doses. I've no doubt you're into some design form that I personally don't like... but that's design.
If you don't like it, don't click on it.
I personally prefer to buy original MCM, but I love the contemporary furniture that references the period!
I started this website but never completed it. It is not set up for sales. Now that we are planning to leave the country, I am just going to take offers on any of the items on the site. If they don't say "sold" they are still available. If you like something, make an offer, then I'll move it over to ebay to make a sale. I love the stuff I collected. Much of it is vintage or retro. www.offbeatboutique.biz (remember the dot biz, it's NOT dot com.) I'm in Portland, Oregon, if anyone wants to save on shipping.
Crate and Barrel featured a lot of MCM in their last catalog. I was surprised but into it.
