Restoration Hardware Baby & Child Goes Old School

Restoration Hardware Baby & Child recently released their new fall/winter catalog. While many of the designs were a bit too...regal looking...for my taste, they're continuing down one design road that I really like: vintage school inspired. In the past we've admired their schoolhouse table and chairs and alphabet letters and they've added several furniture pieces and decorative elements along these same lines.

1. Cafeteria Play Table ($949): The product description says this design is based on an old factory cafeteria table, but I think it strongly suggests an old school cafeteria. Either way, I love the industrial/industrious vibe it gives off.

2. Locker Storage Bed ($1199): A riff on wooden iceboxes used to store food in kitchens, this locker bed looks like it belongs in a 19th Century British boarding school. Not that I know what those looked like. There is also an 8 locker version as well as a side table and 3-door cabinet.

3. Pocket Desk Chair ($179): Modern text books would barely fit in these chair pockets, but it's a fun way to display reading books or hold art supplies.

4. Extra Large Vintage Metal Letters ($49): Metal letters aren't too hard to come by and RHB&C offers quite a few. What makes these notable is their size - 22" tall.

5. Vintage Illuminated Exit Sign ($89): There are exit signs all over the place, but I most remember staring at them at school wishing I could speed up the clock until it truly were time to exit for the day.
