The calendar tells us it's almost summer, but by the thermostat summer is surely already underway. At the cusp of this new season, what deals do retailers have up their sleeves for us? what are the smart buys right now? Take a look at the best kinds of things to buy this month:

Outdoor Furniture

Most folks get their outdoor spaces squared away in early spring which is why waiting a bit can score you a deal on outdoor furniture and accessories. You can expect even better deals if you can hold off further into the summer.

Indoor Furniture

Indoor furniture tends to go on sale in the summer as stores try to clear out space for new fall offerings that they ordered during the spring design shows. You may find better deals later in the summer, but you can start scouting now. Livingston Leather Club Chair

Tools

Take advantage of Father's Day-related sales for yourself. Look for deals on hand tools and power tools.

Where to look: your local hardware store, big box stores like Lowes and Home Depot or online like Amazon.

Dinnerware

Retailers may put dishes and dinnerware on sale in June with wedding and graduation gifts in mind, but you don't need a special occasion to pick up a deal for yourself.
