The best shopping finds are the surprises. Like when you head into Urban Outfitters looking for clothes and find a retro-fabulous tabletop turntable that won't push your credit limit. (Now if only we could find a great party dress at Best Buy.)
The Wood Turntable from Urban Outfitters is deserving of a way more clever name.
With a wooden cabinet and a silver-toned front, this tabletop turntable mashes retro and modern together to make a piece that will coordinate with and add character to any style. Because let's be honest, you only want to buy a record player because it looks cool.
The best part is that it's affordable. The turntable; with it's frosted dust cover, 33/45/78 RPM speeds, AM/FM stereo receiver, external stereo speaker output jacks, stereo headphone jack and built-in speakers; is only going to cost you $88. You gotta love gadget shopping at the mall.

Ugh. Jensen. One of the worst names in audio. This atrocity is pretty much guaranteed to chew up vinyl. Save a few more weeks of tips from your bar-back job and pick up a used SL-1200 for around $200. Instant audiophile, hipster, DJ, and street cred. Your 18th pressing garage-sale-find Velvet Underground records will thank you.
Oh wow! That's amazing. I've been looking into investing in my first turntable. I'm picky about design and so I was looking at the Project Debut III but it costs around $350. It's a great turntable but I don't have the money for it. I'll look further into this $88 turntable :O
codeislife: but it's made of *wood*!
Agree with the used turntable suggestion, but I'd be leery of a used SL-1200. It's the used turntable equivalent of a Mustang -- great car, classic, but tends to be abused heavily before being unloaded on an unsuspecting buyer.
